Anritsu Corporation ME7873L RF/RRM Conformance test system got GCF certification approval for FDD-LTE Carrier Aggregation

Anritsu Corporation (President Hirokazu Hashimoto) has announced that the company’s ME7873L RF/RRM Conformance Test System has achieved more than 80% of RF/RRM conformance test cases approval by GCF related to the LTE-Advanced TD-LTE Carrier Aggregation.

LTE-Advanced is a faster mobile communications standard than LTE now being deployed by global network operators; the key technology it uses to achieve faster speeds is called carrier aggregation.

Test systems must obtain GCF approval for at least 80% of test cases as a condition for terminal certification by GCF.

The FDD LTE-Advanced standard has already been commercialized in many regions of the world, and there is an urgent need for GCF certification approval of at least 80% of test cases for the TDD standard now under full-scale deployment centered especially on China.
 
Anritsu launched its ME7873L RF Conformance Test System in January 2014 as the first instrument to achieve GCF certification approval for better than 80% of its FDD-LTE Carrier Aggregation test cases. Now, in late December 2014, it has reached more than 80% GCF approval for its TD-LTE carrier aggregation RF/RRM conformance test cases.

China is deploying LTE-Advanced services using TD-LTE technology starting in 2015 and both Japan and the USA are planning introduction of these services too. Anritsu will continue to focus its efforts on obtaining GCF/PTCRB certifications to help bring next-generation mobile broadband systems to market as soon as possible.

LTE-Advanced is a faster implementation of the LTE mobile communications system. It aims to offer maximum data throughput speeds of 1 Gbps for stationary and slow-moving mobile units used by pedestrians as well as speeds of 100 Mbps for fast-moving mobile units in shinkansen trains, etc.

ME7873L RF Conformance Test System

The ME7873L is a test platform for assuring the compliance of LTE/LTE-Advanced terminal RF Tx and Rx characteristics and performance with the 3GPP standards.  It supports the LTE/LTE-Advanced RF/RRM conformance tests and is being used for carrier acceptance inspection tests in North America, Asia, and Japan.

RF/RRM Conformance Test Cases

The RF conformance test cases are used to confirm that the Tx and Rx characteristics and performance of a mobile terminal comply with the requirements of the 3GPP specifications. The RRM conformance test cases are used to control the resources (radio channels, etc.) between base stations and the mobile terminal.

Carrier Aggregation

Technology for creating a virtual wider bandwidth (frequency range of electromagnetic waves) by combining several frequency bandwidths. In radio communications systems, a wider bandwidth supports faster and larger capacity data transmission. For example, a carrier can increase the peak and average communications speeds to transfer more data by using this carrier aggregation technology to create a virtual contiguous 30 MHz band from two separate 20 and 10 MHz bandwidth allocations.
